Sick, Elderly and Differently Abled Ministry

The Sick, Elderly and Differently-Abled Ministry (SEDAM) exists to bring the Good News and the Holy Sacraments to the sick, elderly and differently-abled, and to ensure that they feel a sense of belonging and importance in the community.

We are here to listen, to touch and to care. We cannot perform miracles as Jesus did but we can bring care and love to those who need it most. We call on you to join us in using our our talents and gifts to administer to the sick, elderly and differently-abled.

With the help of the Extraordinary Ministers of the Holy Eucharist, we bring Holy Communion to the sick, elderly and differently-abled in their homes. Also, we explain the importance of the Sacrament of Reconciliation and Anointing of the Sick. We also spend quality time together, in prayer and in counseling. We try our best to establish spiritual, psychological, emotional and moral healing of persons.

We also reach out to the families and caregivers of the sick, elderly and differently-abled by promoting programs and symposia such as “Catholic Care for the Handicapped, Sick, Aged and Terminally Ill” and training programs on caregiving and other relevant topics.

SEDAM works in close coordination with the ministries of Education, Health Care and Social Services. With the Education Ministry, we implement activities for spiritual growth, personality development, education and skills acquisition. With the Health Care Ministry, we provide, as needed, medical, dental, optical and preventive health care services through volunteer health care professionals. With the Social Services Ministry, we cooperate in corporal and spiritual works of mercy for our poor, sick aged and disabled parishioners, animated by charity.

"Be sensitive to the different needs of the suffering, like Mary who stood at the cross. Mama Mary stands with those who suffer. She listens to those who suffer."

Jesus had a special love for the disabled. Let us help them to look with trust and love to Jesus who died for us.

We love these abled persons!
