God In My Pocket

I never need to worry that God will fail me or abandon me. He thinks about me all the time. It’s as if my name were written on the palm of His hand. He watches over me night and day. Whenever I need His help, He takes my hand and guides me

. “Don’t be afraid,” He assures me, “I’m with you.” He is like a shade of tree that protects me from the heat of the day, or a shelter in a storm. He hides me in the shadow of His hand. I never have to run away from danger or flee from trouble, for He walks in front of me and guard me from behind at the same time. He carries me when I’m weary, and He is there to catch me when I stumble. Everybody falls once in a while, when I do, however, He gives me strength to get up again. It’s as if I can fly with the wings of an eagle; I can run without feeling faint, I can walk without getting tired. I can compare my relationship with Him to the one a shepherd has with the sheep. He is like a good shepherd. If I get hurt in any way, He tenderly treats my wounds until it’s well again. Then He carries me in His arms next to His heart.

There are times when I feel trapped by people and I’m powerless against them. Then He says “Don’t be afraid of them! Watch and see what I can do to help you. He makes me strong. I’d like to imagine a well-watered garden so lovely that a song could be written about it. The keeper waters it carefully and guards it night and day. No one dares to come near it without the keeper’s permission. Then He says: “You’re my garden and I’m your keeper. I watch over you and protect you at all times, I never neglect you even for a second. Nothing can touch you without first having to deal with me. The more closely you live according to my guidelines, the more I will bless you and all of my children who keep my agreement. I will open the windows of heaven and pour down blessings on each one of you.”

Like leaves overflowing the sides of the basket, His gift to you and I are much more than we can hold at any one time – and this is only the beginning.
