Magnificent magnificat

“My soul proclaims the

greatness of the Lord; my spirit

rejoices in God my savior, for

he has looked upon his lowly

servant.” (Luke 1:46-47)

Mary’s song of praise, the Magnificat is one great example on how we must accept God’s call to each one of us. The song

was filled with God’s greatness, holiness and faithfulness to all generations. It is a hymn of joy and gladness – full of love

and gratefulness. Mary is grateful on what God has bestowed upon her.

Mary’s song tells us that we too, must be humble in accepting our

mission in this world. It is through Mary’s worship that we should

also place our trust in the Lord regardless of what plan He has for

us. Mary didn’t know what will happen but with all her humility

and kindness she accepted God’s gift and with her clean heart she

expressed her gratitude to God.

Mary responded to God’s plan for all mankind. Therefore,

Mary’s canticle is an example that reminds us about humility and

holiness. Also, through Mary’s song God lifts up the lowly. Mary’s

Magnificat simply shows us that despite of our immorality, in our

lowliness and sinfulness, God will lift us up. He first showed us the

Mother of our Savior was a simple young girl. Indeed, it is Mary

whom God chose to be His companion in bringing back everyone

to Him. It is through her that we are called to be His people. In

her Magnificat, Mary is teaching us to have courage and always

be grateful in everything – that as people surrounded by earthly

things, we must glorify God, giving Him praise and honor.

Mary is the reason why we should follow God’s will in

every circumstance. It is now a challenge for every one of us to

imitate Mary’s gentleness in following God’s plan. May Mary’s

Magnificat be our own song and may we be like Mary who

experienced the love and mercy of God. May our soul magnify the

Lord both now and forever!
